Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual, national event in Australia in which primary school children are encouraged to walk or commute safely to school, an initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia (PCA). It is held annually in May on a varying date. In 2009, it will be held on May 15. Wikipedia

Please encourage your children to walk(or ride) safely to school this Friday.

Children's Television Channel

There will be a Children's Television Channel up and running by Christmas as announced in yesterday's budget. This is a great achievement for the Australian Children's Television Foundation who have been lobbying for this for many years.

“For the past 50 years, Australian parents have trusted ABC Television to inform, educate and entertain their children." said ABC Managing Director, Mark Scott.

“It is wonderful that in this new era of digital television, the ABC will deliver a dedicated channel for children, available free of charge and without advertising, in every Australian home."
